Goodbye Fedora

Sorry, I know Fedora 14 is cutting edge and probably technically superior to Ubuntu, but I tend to be quite lazy and Ubuntu makes everything so much easier. Like enabling Nvidia's proprietary drivers to play OpenArena (which I would never do, you understand, being ideologically opposed to non-free drivers, except of course, when I want to play 3D games). It's a tick box in Ubuntu. In Fedora, it's a black screen followed by hours of fiddling with grub and kernel images.

A couple of other things I'm enjoying with my 64bit Maverick Meerkat goodness:
  • Handbrake - Don't be afraid, it's actually very easy to install
  • Skype - The Linux beta even supports video calling and screen sharing
Of course I'm ideologically opposed to Skype as well, except for when I want to chat with my wife from the office.
